Successful Qualification of High Expansion Retainer

isol8 is one significant step closer to delivering single-trip, multi-annulus, bonded-alloy P&A barriers with the successful activation of their unique thermite-initiated, high expansion retainer.

The retainer is deployed below the thermite modules and acts to centralise and anchor the toolstring. The high expansion retainer supports molten thermite or alloy to provide assurance of plug length and eliminates any ratty alloy portion. Following thermite initiation the retainer automatically sets within 15 seconds allowing the disconnection and recovery of the setting tool modules.

isol8 is now progressing towards the qualification testing of a 5" tubing plug and a 4-½" x 9-⅝" single annulus barrier.
