World's First - Bonded Alloy Barrier Field Trial

isol8 have successfully delivered the World’s first bonded alloy downhole barrier.

This fantastic “rigless” P&A technique could represent the largest cost saving opportunity for North Sea decommissioning. The Fusion permanent plug was deployed on electric wireline and set in a UK North Sea well at a depth of 10,765ft on the 31st October. The resulting bonded alloy barrier successfully passed pressure testing from above and below.

isol8 CEO Andrew Louden commented on the successful field trial:

“Our vision is to set a new global standard in zero emission wellbore barriers. Reaching this exciting milestone is a major step towards achieving that goal.
It has been a fantastic team effort to deliver this result, from desktop to deployment in only 20 months. We are very grateful for the support we received from our Operating Company partners, OGTC and Scottish Government who helped to make this success possible”.

The isol8 team are now preparing for several additional deployments in different wellbore geometries.
