Fusion Permanent Plug

Fusion Permanent Plug

Product Applications

  • Tubing or Casing isolation
  • Well suspension
  • Well abandonment (Phase I)
  • Water shut off
  • Gas shut off
  • Zonal isolation
  • Toe shut-off

Product Summary

Plug Size

A single Fusion tool size can service the widest range of tubing and casing sizes of any plug on the market.

Heater

isol8’s Fusion plug can be deployed with a solid thermite heater for low-high expansion or a fluidised thermite heater for ultra-high expansion.

Alloy

isol8 is the only alloy company to create a metallurgical bond with the wellbore tubing or casing. This delivers the highest shear-bond strength and longest life expectancy. The optimum alloy is selected based on the well temperature and the alloy plug length can be varied to meet or exceed the tubing pressure rating.

Optional Retainer

When used with the integral retainer our clients can be assured that there is no wasted ratty alloy run-off. The retainer is deployed in a collapsed position and fully set prior to any alloy melt. A full-bore alloy plug is formed above the thermite.

Product Features & Benefits

  • Modular tool design: easily scaled for multiple tubing and casing sizes
  • Single toolstring size capable for servicing a wide range of tubing/casing sizes
  • Slickline, electric wireline, coiled tubing or pipe deployed
  • Safe Initiation System: RP67 Compliant (Rev 3 Oct 19) Two independent safety features that prevent inadvertent tool functioning
  • Secondary initiation means (100% backup: signal or timer activated)
  • Full x-section – metal to metal plug
  • Metallurgical Bond: Highest shear-bond strength and long-term integrity assurance
  • Single trip operation (Integrated Retainer Option)
  • Retainer assures plug length (eliminates ratty alloy run off portion)
  • Option to connect wireless monitoring devices below the retainer
  • Non-toxic alloy seal
  • H2S and CO2 corrosion resistant alloy seal
  • Alloy liquid viscosity enables conformity to undefined geometries
  • Alloy options to suit well temperature up to 200°C
  • Barrier length can be varied to achieve the desired pressure differential to 10,000psi (or casing burst limit in certain geometries)
  • High Expansion plug sizes possible with solid heater option
  • Ultra-High Expansion plug sizes possible with the fluidised heater option
  • No slips or elastomeric element
  • Designed to exceed ISO 14310 V0 qualification standard – Eternal* gas tight seal
  • Superior performance to cement that shrink by 1-3%
  • Ideally suited to CCS applications where cement degradation is accelerated by CO2
  • Superior life expectancy than bridge plug fluoroelastomers
  • Bismuth and non-bismuth alloy options are selected based on well temperature
  • Thermite compacted in heaters to 10,000psi for superior heat output
  • Minimum personnel required for well P&A barrier placement
  • Rigless operation, small deck footprint and less time consuming than traditional P&A
  • Lower cost than traditional P&A

* ‘Eternal’ was defined in OGUK Qualification of alternative materials for the abandonment of wells as 1 million days or 2740 Years.
